Instagram post 2179386423342124953_7290651673 What a weekend!  Filled with exploration of our movement blindspots, learning, helping, fun and laughter.  My fourth Restore Your Core™️ workshop.  Always fills my cup and reminds me (to the extent that I need reminding!), that I am so lucky to love what I do.  Best job ever!  Brilliant to listen to, and watch, Lauren teach, adding new tools and tricks every time for me to use with my clients.  My world changed a lot for the better when I bit the bullet and bought Restore Your Core™️! Absolutely love spending time with the Restore Your Core™️ family @thelaurenohayon , @clairerussburns, @louisa_mindfulmovement, @active.calm, @blueskyhannah, @sylvia.pt and @functionalpelvis.

Today is National Stress Awareness Day in the UK (check out @mindcharity for more information). Stress is something that crept up on me when I was working as a solicitor.  I'm not sure I would say I was particularly stressed before that, but I loved the buzz of working hard and putting my all in and as a result often felt stressed too.  It took its toll and at 30 I was told that my consistently high blood pressure meant that I would have to take blood pressure medication for the rest of my life. 
There's nothing you can do my GP and cardiologist told me - it's just your genes. 
Fortunately, my journey following the birth of my first daughter has caused me to start questioning the causes of my high blood pressure and delve into the cause and effects of stress.  I'm no longer taking the tablets - my blood pressure is not always perfect, but I know that the key for me is to keep my stress levels in check.  Stress can come from all angles:  thoughts, work, children, parenting, money, food (the type of, lack of and too much). It can be a stress on your mind or on your body.

I've picked up a lot of stress-reducing strategies in the past 6 years.  Here are some of my favorites:

1.  Going for a walk outdoors.
2.  Taking deep breaths (for a minute or using the inhale for 3, hold for 4, exhale for 5 breath)
3.  Listening to the daily Calm on their app while lying in a position that down trains my central nervous system.
4.  Cooking
5.  Reading
6.  Acupuncture
7.  Mindful Movement with some hard to master (for mind and/or body) moves

So much fun walking the catwalk at the Fizz n Fashion Show in aid of @goteamelmo and @grovecottagebs.  Perfectly planned by @clairemirrorimage and @kneadamassagehealthandwellness, we wore clothes and accessories provided by @all.the.frills, @avenuelboutique, @_pink_ostrich_, @mycelebritydress and Cabi.  Accompanied on the catwalk by these lovely ladies @thedesignchambers.co.uk, @festivalweddings_uk, @wearemoutpads amongst others.  And lots of friendly faces in the audience @birtheasywithgeorgia @thriveinbusiness @dayhrconsultants @hushaboosleep @jopatel_phonicsstars 
If you had told me three years ago I would do this, I wouldn’t have believed you.  I would have worried what others would think.  Now, I’m keen to step outside my comfort zone again (it widens it you know!). I’m keen to join in with the fun things and to challenge my mind and my body.  Yes, I did wear high heels 👠 and they did look fab with the outfits.  Yes, my feet and my calves screamed at me for being unkind to them! 😆 Yes, it was pretty scary walking (or attempting to walk) down a slippery catwalk in strappy very high heels.  No, I didn’t break my ankle! 😅 
And I love to meet and spend time with other amazing women in business.  I can’t wait to hear how much they raised for the charities. 
What have you done recently that has taken you outside of your comfort zone?

The more you clench, the tighter and weaker you’re making your pelvic floor muscles. “Tight” does not mean strong. 
Reintegrating the reflexive breath, core and pelvic floor system is one of the ways I help clients to build function and strength to their core and pelvic floor!

When we spread the 'clench' message we disempower and under educate women! Thank you @birtheasywithgeorgia for providing the gorgeous space and @kneadamassagehealthandwellness for providing hand massages for our guests.  @chloe_vburroughs and I settled with bringing cake and lots of chat! We made a lovely sum for Macmillan too!

I guess what most people think when they hear fitness is about someone who does lots of exercise! I love exercise as much as the next person, but in our sedentary world, I think focusing on moving a lot more and moving well is the best way to fitness. Fitness to be able to live our lives with our bodies and minds functioning and feeling well. Yes, let's keep the exercise, but are you spending the other 15 waking hours sitting?? What do you think?
