Frequently asked questions

What is the Restore Your Core Foundations course?

The Restore Your Core Foundations course will provide you with essential tools to help you to reconnect to your body. Whether you have had children or not and no matter how long ago you gave birth.   Life, our societal movement patterns, carrying a baby, giving birth to a baby (whether vaginally or by caesarean section) and then looking after and raising that baby can all take their toll on your mind and your body.

Many of us women lose the connection with our bodies particularly with our core and pelvic floor.  Whether you are wanting to start exercising again or you want to move through your daily life feeling strong, the Restore Your Core Foundations course will give you the tools you need to reconnect with and strengthen your whole body.

Whether you choose to practice at home with the videos and manual provided or just attend the classes, every woman who attends the classes learns something about their daily movement patterns that they can then use in day to day life for all day strengthening and healing.

Who is the Restore Your Core foundations course for?

The six week course is for you if you want:

  • To reconnect to your body after having a baby; and/or
  • To improve the strength and function of your core muscles; and/or
  • To improve pelvic floor strength and function; and/or
  • Improve or resolve continence issues; and/or
  • Heal or improve symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse and/or a diastasis recti; and/or
  • To help future proof your core and pelvic floor as you move through the phases of life.

The course can help you with all of the above regardless of whether you are pregnant, newly postnatal (after your doctor’s clearance), long time post-natal or have never had a baby.

How is a Restore Your Core course with Emma Riedo Movement different to other exercise courses or classes for core function?

It is a whole body exercise programme – we don’t just spot treat the core.  Everything in your body is connected and needs to be looked as one big jigsaw puzzle.  Throughout the course you will be given pieces of information that will help you tune into your body and to understand what it is telling you that it needs.  You will begin to understand what pieces of your own jigsaw puzzle need to work or move differently, what needs strengthening and lengthening and what needs releasing.

As you move through the course you will learn your body’s own personal movement patterns, its blind spots and you will receive the tools to gradually repattern those movements throughout the day, so that they are more optimal.  After each class you will receive two home practice videos, one with all the instructions you received in class and one done at a faster pace with less instruction.  You will also receive a manual with all of the exercises from the class and the home practice.

I’m pregnant, can I still come to a Restore Your Core Foundations or Mindful Movement and Strength for Women course?

Yes, although we do not have a pregnancy specific class yet, the courses are still perfect for use during pregnancy either as prehab (you don’t have any symptoms or issues with core and/or pelvic floor dysfunction) or as rehab (you have symptoms of core and/or pelvic floor dysfunction).

Can I bring my baby?

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your baby up to the age of one (give or take a few weeks – don’t worry if your baby turns one during the course) to the Mums and Babies Restore Your Core Foundations or a 1-2-1 session.

So this is 41! On the final part of my trip back So this is 41! On the final part of my trip back to Hertfordshire after an amazing weekend in Switzerland and Germany with my husband and without kids. The first weekend away the two of us for a very long time and yesterday was my idea of the perfect way to spend my birthday! Pre breakfast swim, followed by a two hour breakfast where you just kept ordering from the menu, all afternoon in the spa, followed by a pre-dinner walk, followed by a six course tasting menu with wine and finally drinks in the bar with live piano music.

Feeling grateful, relaxed and at ease. Now to carry that forward into the rest of the week!

Some images I’ve collected over the past few day Some images I’ve collected over the past few days plus a few thoughts post Mother’s Day.

Image one: yes let’s all do that.

Image two: absolutely! From @iamstephgrainger who is helping me sort through my thoughts and emotions.

Image three: retain your “self”, if you’ve lost her (I know I had) go find her! Martyrdom and being selfless are not my aspirations.

Image four: hallelujah to that!

Image five: no wonder we’re all exhausted.

My feelings on the lead up to Mother’s Day made me realise that I’m not feeling valued by my family at the moment. I’m doing too much and I’ve lost a bit of my “self”. Difficult emotions, but great ones to feel into. Now I can address with my family that I would like to be valued all year round and also set out my expectations to my husband for next year. Judging by some of the other posts I’ve seen I’m not the only one!
